Mental Performance

Meet Your Coach

Coach Cami Duboy

Chilean-born and raised in Riverside, CT, Cami grew up competing in tennis, basketball and volleyball. She earned her psychology degree at UConn, spent seven years in human resources, then followed her passion into coaching — becoming a certified personal trainer and earning her Master's in Sports Psychology.

Cami believes the strongest athletes train the mind and body together. She creates an environment where athletes feel understood, motivated and pushed in the best ways — and leave with the mental resilience to match their physical work.

Why It Matters

Talent gets you there. Your mindset decides what happens next.

Every athlete has felt it: the practice that goes perfectly and the game that doesn't. The skills didn't disappear — nerves, doubt or one bad play took over. Mental performance is a skill set, and like speed or strength, it can be trained. At The Ave, we build it with the same standard we bring to every rep: clear tools, consistent practice, and real accountability.

What We Work On

The mental side of the game

Confidence

Build belief that holds up under pressure — rooted in preparation, not hype.

Focus

Lock in on what you control and tune out the crowd, the scoreboard and the noise.

Pressure & Nerves

Pre-game routines, breathing and reset tools so nerves become energy, not a barrier.

Bouncing Back

Move past mistakes in seconds, not quarters. Short memory, next play.

Returning From Injury

Rebuild trust in your body and handle the fear of reinjury as you get back on the field.

Goals & Motivation

Set clear goals, build daily habits, and stay driven through the grind of a long season.

Who It's For

Built for athletes at every level

Youth and high school athletes (12+) building confidence, handling tryouts, and competing at a higher level
College and aspiring college athletes managing pressure, playing time and recruiting
Athletes coming back from injury who are physically cleared but not mentally all the way back
Adult competitors — runners, lifters, tennis, golf, and anyone who wants to perform better under pressure
Teams and coaches looking to build a stronger, more resilient culture

FAQ

Common questions

Is this therapy?

No. Mental performance coaching is education and skill-building focused on performance. It is not therapy or mental health treatment. If you or your athlete are dealing with anxiety, depression or other mental health concerns, we'll help you connect with a licensed professional.

Do I need to train at The Ave to work with Cami?

No. Mental performance coaching is available on its own, and it pairs well with any training program at The Ave.

How young can athletes start?

We work with athletes 12 and older. For athletes under 18, a parent or guardian is part of the intro call.

Can parents be involved?

Yes. We'll share the tools your athlete is working on so you know how to support them — and what to say, and not say, on the drive home.

Are virtual sessions available?

Yes. 1:1 sessions can be held in person at The Ave or virtually.

Mental performance coaching at The Ave is educational and performance-focused. It is not psychotherapy, counseling or medical care, and it does not diagnose or treat any mental health condition. In a crisis, call or text 988.
